McLean County Jane Dos is the name given to an unknown woman who was found deceased from suicide in Bloomington, Illinois on the 2nd of February 1982. Witnesses who saw her before she died said she was “not mentally stable”. Two individuals also came forward claiming that they picked her up whilst hitchhiking.
Jane Doe is described as being a white female between the ages of 25 and 40, weighing 140lbs and standing at 5″10′. She had greying black hair, light brown or hazel eyes and an olive complexation. Her top front teeth were crowded and one tooth protruded, and according to some sources she had receding gums which may have been caused by overbrushing her teeth or brushing too hard. She was a smoker, and she had probably never given birth during her life.
At the time of her death, she was wearing a maroon V-neck sweater, blue jeans, a rust cowl neck sweater worn underneath the v-neck, black pantyhose, brown mouton (processed sheepskin, sheared and dyed) 3/4 length fur coat, a size 36C white bra, a pair of beige knit gloves, one white sock on her right foot and one grey sock on her left foot and brown eyelet earth shoes size 8-9.
She was also carrying a grey “bic” lighter, M&M peanut candy, a small amount of US currency, a key chain with seven keys and a pack of “Now” cigarettes and a pack of “Pall Mall” cigarettes. The cigarettes were traced back to southwestern Illinois and southeastern Indiana through tax stamps, though it isn’t clear which pack came from where.
One of the keys on the keychain was traced back to a locksmith in New York City and had an address on it, but investigators discovered that the address didn’t actually exist.
McLean County Jane Doe has remained unidentified for 40 years. Do you know who she is?
